Abstract

The connections of Metropolitan Andrei Șaguna with the Deanery of Bârgău The study presents the correspondence of the Bishop (the future Metropolitan of Transylvania) Andrei Șaguna with the Deanery of Bârgău between 1849-1859, the situation of the Orthodox confessional schools in the Deanery during this period. In 1852, the Bishop visited the Deanery of Bârgău, at the parish of Galații Bistriței, where a stone church was built. Andrei Șaguna approved the plan for the new church and made a donation for its construction. The church was consecrated in 1901 by Andrei Șaguna's successor, Metropolitan Ioan Mețianu.
