Abstract

In the history of our nation the Orthodox Church has been permanently present in the midst of its shepherds, sharing together the joys and sorrows of our nation, fighting together for national ideals. We can say that the defense of the national ideals and the right faith are intertwined, because the Romanian people was Christian by formation, the literature through the selected texts shows us the image of the Transylvanian Romanian p riest as an apologist, a priest who defended the right faith and the identity of the nation. The burden of the foreign yoke was felt most keenly by the Transylvanian Romanian priest, together with the people he shepherded under foreign rule, where they fought to defend the faith and the unity of the nation, defending the cultural and r eligious identity of the Transylvanian Romanians.
