Abstract

The Church has always taken care of all its members. Moreover, those who are deprived of their liberty need to rediscover God, because His image in them has perverted. The priest of the penitentiary puts his shoulder to this rediscovery of God. Through everything he does, he must become the vector that directs the fallen to God. As a result, his actions and his own example of life must restore this connection. In all penitentiaries in Romania there is a church or a chapel arranged in which religious services are performed, and where the priest offers spiritual or moral-religious counseling to those who need it. Here, those deprived of their liberty are free to unload their souls and draw near to Christ. The presence of the priest in the penitentiary area is very good. The spiritual needs of those deprived of their liberty are numerous. The priest thus becomes a compass that brings in addition to guidance and the message of salvation in this troubled and sometimes even desperate environment.
