Considerații asupra cărților de cult tipărite de Sfântul Ierarh Petru Movilă

As abbot of the Pecerska Lavra and then as Metropolitan of Kiev, Petru Movilă established printing houses in Kiev and Lvov to revive the Orthodox culture in Russia, printing numerous liturgical, teaching, Orthodox apologetic books, as well as translations of the Holy Fathers. Almost 50 prints are known, taken out from under the printing press with the direct care of the great hierarch of Romanian origin, some of them being made by himself. Among the liturgical books, the most important, his masterpiece is the Trebnik (1646) with 1529 pages, that contains an original part, namely, the explanation of the liturgical and dogmatic meanings of the liturgical services. Since the holy hierarch’s lifetime, his works and prints have become an integral part of the culture and civilization of Southeast Europe.
