Abstract

Repentance and confession of sins are of essential importance in correcting the life of the sinful man. The one who confessed sincerely and fully has the burden of sin lifted from his conscience, and leaves with a relieved, serene, calm, enlightened soul. The Confession of sins does not mean some kind of ”psychoanalysis session” in which the penitent would make a simple inventory of his sins and justify them. Confession as a sacramental act means a reconciliation with God. Priests are soul doctors, and they seek the healing of believers for salvation. healing is done only with the help and will of the sufferer. Confession is a privileged moment of encounter with the Savior Jesus Christ. Knowing that he confesses to Christ, the believer reveals his entire inner state to the priest, down to the deepest folds of the soul. Repentance, i. e. change of mind, leads us to the Sacrament of Mysteries, i. e. Communion with the Body and Blood of Christ. When man repents of his sins and turns to God, the love of God stretches out his arms and embraces the returning sinful man, and whatever dirt and stains he may have, he is cleansed and made righteous.
