Personalități bisericești și laice la alegerea, învestirea și instalarea lui Nicodim Munteanu ca arhiepiscop al Iașilor și mitropolit al Moldovei și Sucevei

Abstract

With a thorough theological and laic preparation, since he was young, Nicodim Munteanu had his chance to reach the church hierarchy; we shall mention, in this context, the most outstanding: preacher at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iasi (from 1895); archimandrite and administrative vicar of the Metropolitanate of Moldova and Suceava (1898-1902); administrative vicar of the Diocese of Dunarea de Jos (1902-1909) and, at the same time, director of the “Saint Andrew” Seminar of Galati (1908-1909); vicar bishop of the Metropolitanate of Moldova and Suceava with the title “Bacauanul” (1909); holder bishop at Husi (1912-1923); in parallel, alternate of the archbishop of Chisinau and Hotin (1918-1919), prior of the Monastery of Neamt (1924-1935); archbishop of Iasi and metropolitan and Moldova and Suceava (1935-1939) and patriarch of Romania (1939-1948); in 1948 he passed away and was buried in the Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest.

In this paper, we shall present the appreciations of the church and laic personalities who attended the election and installation of Nicodim Munteanu as archbishop of Iasi and metropolitan of Moldova and Suceava.
