Abstract

In this study: A Short History of the Villages on the Ilva Valley, Bistriţa-Năsăud County. General presentation, the author synthe- tizes the geographic location, the history, the Church, the School, the Traditions and Customs, the economy of the five villages of the Ilva: Ilva Mică, Poiana Ilvei, Măgura Ilvei, Ilva Mare and Lunca Ilvei. Descendants of the “free Dacians”, proven stoutly and brave- ness, through traditional garment and traditions, the villagers were involved in the great battles of the Austrian Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in the First and Second World Wars, sacrificing for a better life. It is remarkable that from these vil- lages many outstanding personalities in different domains of activ- ity rose, who were known in Romania and abroad and who honor our Romanian nation.
