Izvoare referitoare la viaţa şi activitatea patriarhului Mihail I Cerularie (c. 1000 - 1059)

Abstract

This article tries to index and analyze the main primary sources refering to the life and works of patriarch Michael I Cerularius. After a brief presentation of the obstacles in preserving the documents, the article will try to makes a short insight into the origin of the manuscripts and edited sources we can find today. By analyzing both intrinsic and extrinsic details of the source, we will try to determine the quality of the writings. As criteria we will take into account who the authors were, their mesage and the way the original texts have been picked up and copied.
